Privacy Policy — Tidymarks

Tidymarks is a Chrome extension that helps you organize and clean up your browser bookmarks. This policy explains exactly what the extension can access, what it does with it, and what leaves your computer.

The short version
Your bookmarks, your browsing history and everything Tidymarks knows about them stay on your own computer. Tidymarks has no server, no user accounts and no analytics. The single network request it ever makes is to validate a Pro license key, and that request contains nothing but the key itself.

What leaves your computer
Exactly one thing: your Pro license key, sent to Lemon Squeezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com) when you activate Pro, and again during a periodic check to confirm the license is still valid. That request contains the license key and a randomly generated installation name. It contains no bookmarks, no addresses, no history and nothing identifying you beyond the key you purchased. Lemon Squeezy is our payments provider; their handling of that data is covered by their own privacy policy.
If you never buy or activate a license, Tidymarks makes no network requests at all.

Deleting your data
Everything Tidymarks stores lives in your browser. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes all of it. Your bookmarks themselves remain in Chrome, untouched, because they were never ours to begin with — with one exception worth knowing: anything still sitting in the Tidymarks Trash folder is a real bookmark folder in Chrome, so if you uninstall while items are in Trash, those bookmarks stay in that folder rather than being restored to where they came from.

What Tidymarks accesses, and why
Your bookmarks. Tidymarks reads your existing bookmarks to display them, and creates, moves, renames or deletes them when you ask it to. It operates on your real Chrome bookmarks — the same ones Chrome's own bookmark manager shows — rather than keeping a private copy.
Your browsing history (read-only). To tell you which bookmarks you have stopped using, Tidymarks asks Chrome when a bookmarked address was last visited. It only ever queries the addresses that are already saved in your bookmarks, it never reads your wider browsing history, and it never adds to or deletes from your history.
The page you are currently viewing. When you click Save, Tidymarks reads the current tab's address, title and icon in order to save it as a bookmark. It does not read page content, and it does not monitor tabs in the background.
Local storage on your computer. Tidymarks keeps a small amount of its own data in Chrome's local storage: when a bookmark was saved through the extension, whether it has been filed into a folder yet, your chosen folder colors and folder order, what is currently in Trash, and your license status. This never leaves your computer.
Site icons. Icons shown on cards come from Chrome's own local favicon cache. Tidymarks does not fetch images from websites.

No accounts, no sign-in, no email address collected by the extension
No reading of page content
No syncing of your bookmarks to any server
